In recent years, I have noticed people using paper money in artwork and decoration often without knowledge of its true purpose. In response I created a piece to shed light on the intended purpose of paper money. Traditionally, the more paper money that is burned for the deceased, the wealthier they become in the afterlife. The time and effort of folding the paper money allow folders to contemplate why and for whom and they are performing this “ceremony”. These reflections often evoke memories of and experiences with the deceased, reminding the folders of the importance and impact the deceased had in their lives.
